Blustein, Shapiro, Frank & Barone, LLP (BSF&B) is pleased to announce the addition of Mehvish Maqbool to its team of attorneys.
Maqbool, who joined the BSF&B team in 2021, completed her Juris Doctor degree and earned a certification in Real Estate Law from Brooklyn Law School. With nearly two years of experience with the Hudson Valley/Sullivan County Catskills firm, she was recently promoted to Associate Attorney.
“Mehvish is highly motivated and it’s very clear that she is passionate about what she does,” said Managing Partner Michael Blustein. “We are pleased to add yet another talented attorney to our growing firm.”
Before completing her Juris Doctor degree, Maqbool accumulated a broad base of experience serving in a diverse range of legal positions, including as a legal intern for District Council 37 Municipal Employees Legal Services, a judicial intern for Hon. Jacqueline D. Williams, Kings County Family Court, and an uncontested divorce project coordinator for Sanctuary for Families.
In addition to her professional experience, Maqbool served as a teaching assistant for a Family Law course at Brooklyn Law School, and was a research assistant for both the law school’s Disability and Civil Rights Clinic and its LGBT Advocacy Clinic. She was also involved in many organizations, including the Family Law and Policy Association, the South Asian Law Student Association, and the Legal Association for Women.
“I am fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of the BSF&B team,” said Maqbool. “I look forward to this next chapter of my career.”
Maqbool is actively involved in the local community. She is a recent graduate of Leadership Orange, the county’s premier leadership training program, and currently serves as a member of the program’s Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion (DEAI) and Golf committees. She’s also a member of the Hudson Valley Estate Planning Council, the Women’s Bar Association of Orange & Sullivan Counties (WBAOSC), and the Middletown Bar Association.
