Blustein, Shapiro, Frank & Barone, LLP has announced the addition of litigation attorney Jacob A. Tuckfelt, a Warwick native, to its ranks. Mr. Tuckfelt’s practice areas include family and matrimonial law, guardianships, and commercial, general civil, and estate litigation. He will work from both the firm’s Goshen and Warwick, N.Y. offices.

Although primarily a litigator, Mr. Tuckfelt is also a trained mediator and collaborative divorce practitioner. He has conducted mediations for the court system and for the local state-supported community Dispute Resolution Center (DRC), where he is a member of the mediator panel. He has mediated a wide variety of divorces, including complex and high-net-worth matters. Mr. Tuckfelt continues to update and expand his mediation skills through training and educational courses.

“Running my own firm for the past seven years has taught me to be a shrewd and effective attorney,” Mr. Tuckfelt said. “Now, as part of BSF&B, I can leverage the knowledge and experience of some of the strongest attorneys in the region, and provide outstanding service in even the most complex legal matters. I couldn’t be happier to be part of this team.”

“We are very pleased to bolster our ranks with yet another talented Orange County native,” said BSF&B Managing Partner Michael Blustein. “Jacob is extremely competent, and has gained extensive legal experience that we expect will be invaluable to our current and future clients.”

Mr. Tuckfelt earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University, and his juris doctorate from Pace University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude.

Mr. Tuckfelt is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey, and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of New York and New Jersey. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, the Hudson Valley Collaborative Divorce Association, and the New York State Council on Divorce Mediation.

Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Tuckfelt had a successful career in the specialty chemicals industry, where he served as a business analyst and supply chain planning manager for an international corporation.

Mr. Tuckfelt is a lifelong resident of Warwick, N.Y.  In his free time, he enjoys jiu jitsu and boxing.
