A total of 240 scholarships worth more than $500 thousand will be awarded from 140 funds at the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan (CFOS) this spring. High school seniors and adults returning to college are encouraged to apply now for these scholarships now.
Students can apply online for scholarships at cfosny.org until April 14. After filling out a single application, they will be notified of which specific scholarships they are eligible for and whether those scholarships have additional application requirements. This streamlined process makes it easier for students to find the best fit scholarship opportunities for their unique circumstances and abilities.
“Thanks to the generosity of our incredible donors, the Foundation is able to offer a wide range of scholarships annually which make a tremendous difference for local students and their families,” said Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan President and CEO Elizabeth Rowley. “A college education gets more costly each year, and we’re proud to support deserving young people and other students realize their dreams of higher education or career training.”
Among the scholarships being distributed through the Community Foundation this year is the Blustein, Shapiro, Frank & Barone Scholarship. This scholarship is distributed to well-rounded students with a minimum high school GPA of 3.3 who are furthering their education in law. Students from the Goshen, Middletown, and Pine Bush school districts are eligible to receive this scholarship.
“The attorneys at Blustein, Shapiro, Frank & Barone are thrilled to offer scholarships to talented students who are working towards a career in law,” said Richard Shapiro. “Lawyers are essential to the preservation of democracy and upholding the rule of law, and we hope that our scholarship can help ease the financial burden for the next generation of legal scholars.”
